I was born in Little Rock, AR. I have made my home in Charleston since 1987. I have two children, Amelia Rose and my 1st grandson Macsen, also my favorite sidekick! James Dylan and my bonus daughter Erica Juras just gave me granddaughter #1 Olivia Rose; Sidekick #1 & I are already planning adventures with her too!
Education
University of Arkansas at LR; in the field as one of the first women zookeepers at the Little Rock Zoo. I was in charge of the monkey house! I had over 100 monkeys and apes under my care and was the lead keeper during the design of her housing and the acquisition of our then premier ape, Chelsea (yes she was named for Chelsea Clinton-who was 2 years old then-this name was changed later after I left the zoo); a darling 6 month old female orangutan. If you've ever looked into the eyes of an Orangutan, you will know that animals do have souls, no doubt. Dr. John gave a performance on the zoo grounds to help earn money for her display and care. Fun times for a 21 year old with our surprised lions and tigers roaring at the sound of music on the grounds of the zoo after dusk when they were used to having the place all to themselves!
