Blog > 10 Ways to Enhance Curb Appeal
Planning to sell your house, looking to attract renters, or simply wanting to give your home a refreshed look? Consider one or more of the following projects:
Cost: free to low cost.
Time Needed: a few minutes - an easy weekend project.
- Add a fresh new doormat or wreath for a welcoming first impression. (See below pic) DIY TIP - Try making a wreath with what’s growing in your yard. This magnolia leaf wreath cost $7 in supplies from Micheals, took me about an hour to complete, and looks great under my porchlight. A bonus: this wreath frame is reusable, saving me money as I update the look over time.
- Store your water hose and any other visible tools neatly.
- Tidy up the exterior of your main entry. Even a simple wipe down can make a difference.
- Update outlet covers and light switch plates.
- Update your lighting. Can’t afford new lights? Consider painting them for a quick fix.
- Paint your front door, and pick a color that will cause passers-by to say Wow.
- Install a new door handle.
- Install flower boxes for instant charm. A collection of potted plants or flowers work also.
- Power wash your driveway, walkway, and house exterior for an impactful difference.
- Create an outdoor focal point. This can be a small spot to sit & relax, a swing, a garden area, or a collection of statement pieces (sculptural pots, outdoor art, etc.)
