Blog > 5 Things I Love About Charleston
Charleston is an easy city to fall for with its unrivaled historic architecture, robust culinary scene, picturesque beaches, an abundance of festivities, and year-round temperate weather. Here's a bit more about why I love calling this beautiful city home:
1) Charleston is a city deeply rooted in history and charm. Since colonial times and extending through the Civil War, it held an important role in America's development. For history buffs, it's an endless treasure trove of museums, archaeological sites, and impressive architecture in spots dating back to the 1700s. The perfect afternoon can be spent strolling south of Broad past impressive Victorian mansions, massive live oaks at White Point Gardens, and taking in Fort Sumter across the glistening waters of Charleston harbor.
2) The Holy City continues to make national and international lists for its impressive restaurant offerings. There are King Street mainstays like Hall's Steakhouse, which offers unparalleled service and choice cuts of meat. For those looking to explore local offerings prepared in a charming historic home downtown, Sean Brock's Husk is an outstanding choice that consistently ranks as one of the top restaurants in the Southeast. Whatever your taste, Charleston consistently delivers on an evolving dining scene.
3) Charleston is one of those few cities that offers both urban vibes while still being a beach town. There are numerous beaches in the Charleston metro area including fan favorites at Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island, Folly Beach, and Kiawah. Personally, I love the IOP breach inlet where I can play fetch with the dog, see dolphins feeding, maybe drop a fishing line, and grab a sunset cocktail at The Boathouse across the street.
4) Another great thing about Charleston is that there is always something to do. Every weekend there is an abundance of festivals, street fairs, music, and cultural offerings. Charleston is truly a city that works off of the mentality that you work to live, not live to work.
5) Finally, you just can't beat the southern climate. The winters are very temperate, with days often reaching the 60s. Summer days are typically in the 80s, perfect for that trip on the boat or to the beach.
There's a reason why people are flocking to the Holy City - the overall quality of life is hard to beat. Please contact me to learn more about the city if you are considering a relocation to our wonderful town.
