A little TLC never hurt!

At times, finding that “perfect” piece of furniture can not only be time consuming, but way out of budget, not cool. But what some people might forget about and underestimate is the power a little sanding and spray paint can have.

I was looking for that “perfect” coffee table. And boy did I find plenty of them that were $1,000+. That may be chump change to some, but there’s some on a budget (like me).

So I decided to go to the gold mine of Facebook Marketplace and found this $40 coffee table. It had the circular structure and width I was looking for.

I took apart the table and started sanding the wood top. I used a 220 grit (that’s what I had in my garage) to remove the stain. I was impressed with how much better it looked!

Next I went to Lowes to buy the Behr Premium Black Matte Spray paint. I sprayed the metal pieces each twice to ensure everything was covered. I bought this spray paint tent on Amazon for $40, highly recommended. Also, please wear some type of paint respirator. I consider myself a tough cookie but the spray paint fumes are no joke.

Voila! I think it turned out wonderfully!

I will eventually stain the top to match my counter stools (once I find counter stools I like LOL). Finding the right pieces of furniture doesn’t have to be expensive. You can decide what you want to spend more money on and then DIY the other pieces of furniture. I believe in you, you’ve got this!
