Buying a Home From Conception to Move-In: A Buyers’ Guide Blog

People often ask me if I’m still enjoying my job, and I have never said anything different than “yes, I love it!”  There are a lot of things to love about being a real estate agent, from the obvious of getting to see many beautiful homes to exercising your brain in negotiations, but for me, it always comes back to how many interesting and unique people I have had the opportunity to meet.  It’s a huge honor to help people through such an important and intimate process, especially people who have never done it before.  The first-timers are so fun to accompany throughout the process, sharing in their joys and being able to help guide them through their disappointments.  Watching them become more educated and seeing the empowerment it brings to them is very satisfying.  As human beings, we often celebrate firsts, from steps to teeth to loves, but as life gets longer, we tend to stop doing this.  As a Realtor ®, I get to continue celebrating firsts regularly with first-time homebuyers.

This blog is going to focus on those first-time buyers:  what they need to know before they start looking at homes, what dealing with a lender will look like, how to decide on an area, what they should look for in a house, credit, contracts/paperwork and much more.  Let me be clear that this blog is not directed at first-timers who are in it for investment purposes only, although hopefully, they will find it helpful as well.   I will hit on some aspects of the investment a home can be and is, but I will be focusing on people who are looking for an actual home.

Over time I am hoping to compile most of the information first-time buyers will need for the buying process so they will not be caught completely unprepared when they are ready to dive in. Hopefully, one day, this blog will be a site buyers can go to and find all of the info they need to guide them through the process, from conception to move-in, in one place. So make sure you bookmark this blog and check back regularly. That way, when you’re ready to “conceive” of buying a home for the first time, it will help make the process more understandable and a little less stressful. If I haven’t covered a topic that you’ve come up against, give me a call, and after we discuss it, I’ll add it to this site for everyone.

The home-buying process does not have to be scary, but unfortunately, it often is, especially for those who have never done it before. If you are a first-time buyer looking for a Realtor® who will help educate and empower you throughout the process, drop me a comment or give me a call.
