Alchemist Beverage Company, previously known as Six Mile Wine & Spirits, opened their retail store in Mt. Pleasant off of Johnnie Dodds back in October of last year. More recently they expanded this location to include a wine bar, oyster bar, and charcuterie.
Alchemist Beverage Company first opened as Six Mile Wine & Spirits back in 2013 in the Six Mile Marketplace in Mount Pleasant. They opened a second store in 2019 in West Ashley, and a third location in late 2020, which is also when they began transitioning the name to Alchemist Beverage Company. Earlier this year they expanded the south Mt. Pleasant location to include the wine/oyster bar and charcuterie, and I am glad they did!
I have visited the Market location two times now and have every intention of going back again. Both times I visited my friends and I all had wine and shared a charcuterie board. The wine was good and the charcuterie was fantastic! When you order charcuterie they bring you a paper menu on which you will check off what you want included. It looks similar to this:
You check off what you want included and they bring it all out on a cheese board with other accouterments like nuts, preserves, and crostini and looking like a piece of art!
The charcuterie boards are available starting at 3pm daily and their other specialty, oysters, is available daily at noon. They have a small menu also offering a few flatbreads and sandwiches. They offer wine by the glass and about 10 beers on draft. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 11pm and Sundays from 9am, offering a brunch menu, to 10pm. On top of all of this, don’t forget the attached liquor store.
If you have been in the Charleston area for any time at all, you know how much we love our local shops and restaurants. We are constantly chanting "Shop Local", and I am continuing that cry for Alchemist. Please, stop in and support this neighborhood gem at 665 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., right across the parking lot from Sesame Burger.
