Blog > Charleston Decor - Neutral with a POP!
Charleston is known for its particular brand of Southern style and home decor is no exception. From Sullivan's Island to Kiawah, some of the same basic elements can be found in interior design selections.

Charlestonians currently favor a relaxed and airy beach feel with strong tropical-inspired hues which pop against neutral backgrounds. Natural-toned wide plank floors and white-washed walls and fireplaces create the perfect backdrop for a rich coral or mint-colored couch, and wicker rattan lighting fixtures. White remains the primary 'color' of choice in the kitchens and bathrooms, creating a timeless look and perfect accompaniment to brass hardware, marble-patterned Quartz countertops, and ceramic tile backsplashes and floors in aquatic-inspired shades of blue and green. Brightly patterned custom headboards and over-stuffed chairs tie in the look, bringing warmth and vitality to the living spaces.
Outdoor living spaces are a carry-over of the style found within, with simplistic and clean-lined furnishings putting a focus on casual living. Many a fig tree and fern can be found in and out, their green leaves providing earthy zen vibes.
We may see trends change over time but our coastal geography and preppy roots will keep some of these looks alive for years to come.
