Headquarters Island - A Gem Near Charleston

Headquarters Island is the most convenient neighborhood to access on Johns Island. This private, gated community, comprised of approximately 200 homes with large lots, is located on the eastern tip of Johns Island at the intersection of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Stono River. The turnoff for Headquarters is directly on the Stono River Bridge just before you enter Johns Island.

This neighborhood is ideal for buyers who are looking for spectacular marsh views and privacy that Johns Island offers without the traffic and lengthier commute times that are associated with living on the island. Downtown is only a 15-minute drive, Folly Beach 20 minutes, and Mt. Pleasant 25.

The homes on the north side of the island overlook the Intracoastal Waterway/Stono River, and on the south side, overlook the marsh and a tidal creek. The neighborhood not only offers access to deep water but also creeks where one can enjoy paddle boarding, canoeing, and great fishing. Additionally, the St. John’s Marina is located less than a mile from the neighborhood and is within walking, biking, and golf carting distance. The marina offers both wet slips and individual lifts, as well as a pool overlooking the Stono River.
