"In recent years, United ranked South Carolina #2 in the United States for inbound residents. That, my friends, is a lot of people moving to South Carolina and it is absolutely no wonder why. We have it all here…..", says Gwen Tennille, in her article "Here are 20 Reasons Why Living In South Carolina Is The Absolute BEST".
As a Rhode Island native, there's one thing we know, and that's the ocean. For over 30 years of my life, I lived in Rhode Island. The ocean state is a summer hot spot for tourists. The landscape along with the rest of New England is beautiful and rich with historical roots. However, relocating to South Carolina has been the best decision I have made thus far!
Whether you're a "Beach Bum" or "Lake Life" is your jam, there's no shortage of water activities in the Palmetto state for all walks of life. From Myrtle Beach to Hilton Head Island, the beautiful beaches that stretch across the coastline of South Carolina all host their own unique aesthetic and are nestled into their own quaint beach towns. Whether you want to rent a surfboard and catch some waves off of Folly Beach, enjoy golfing the ocean course on Kiawah Island or you would rather enjoy one of Charleston's infamous Oyster Roasts on the water, you certainly won't grow weary of the Lowcountry lifestyle.
Maybe you love the mountains and you want to take a hike! Well, even though there are trails all over the state, Greenville has you covered for your rural fix. The upstate has plenty of outdoor activities; explore the Blue Ridge Mountains, kayak Lake Jocassee and hike throughout Table Rock State Park. If you're feeling adventurous and hike far enough, you'll experience viewing South Carolina's tallest waterfall, Raven Cliff Falls on Matthew's Creek.
Perhaps you do in fact enjoy city living. Well let's not forget about America's favorite city, historic Charleston. From King Street to Rainbow Row, this city will keep you entertained both day and night. Offering an incredible food scene, beautiful architecture and fascinating American history; the charming and picturesque city of Charleston provides endless activities including ghost tours, farmer's markets and sunset cruises. Try some of the locals favorites and dabble into she-crab soup, chicken and waffles or fried green tomatoes during your stay. You won't regret it. Oh and don't forget to order a glass of sweet tea!
Let's not forget your timeframe to do all of these fun and exciting things is no longer restricted thanks to the sunshine and warm climate South Carolina serves up! With 6-9 months of Spring/Summer weather, there's plenty to do and plenty to smile about.
So after reading this, you may start to think you're sick and tired of the hustle and bustle that your city has to offer. Well maybe it's time to take a trip and see what southern hospitality in South Carolina has to offer you.
