Mayor Kevin Hart

Hi, I’m Georgia Goodwin and I am a lifelong resident of Upper Dorchester County. My co-workers and I affectionally call it “God’s Country” but mostly known as “The Town of Friendly People”.

St George was incorporated into a town in early 1875 and was named after its first settler James George. The Town of St George has seen many mayors since it was established. Mayor Kevin Hart (not to be confused with the actor) was elected as Mayor on November 5, 2019.

Mayor Hart was born and raised in the St George area. After graduating from USC he came back home and started several businesses. He’s an insurance agent, owns a martial arts studio, and when he’s not busy with all of that he finds time to help his wife with the Flower Gallery. Mayor Hart and his wife have been married for over 33 years and have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

One of the reasons he ran for Mayor was he didn’t like the direction the Town was going, so he decided to be the change. Mayor Hart stated that “you can not control growth but you can prepare for it." He also said that St George is growing at a snail's pace but you have to do it the right way. That is what Mayor Hart and the 6 town council members have been doing. There are several projects in the works and you all will have to wait and see what’s next.

St George is very lucky to have a forward-thinking Mayor at the helms.
