The Gamecocks Struggle and the Tigers Thrive

It was a wet and rainy weekend here in the Low Country, perfect for plopping down on the couch and watching football on the television. The Gamecocks and Tigers both found themselves in unfriendly territory on Saturday night, as both teams took on conference foes on the road. The venues for these games couldn't have been any different, though. 100 hundred thousand rabid LSU fans were praying for the demise of the Gamecocks while a handful of Boston College spectators loosely hoped their team could make the game interesting against a much better Clemson team. The results for these games went as one would expect. The Gamecocks' offensive line apparently forgot they were needed for this game, and allowed the LSU defensive to wreak havoc on Lannoris Sellers and the Carolina offense. The Gamecocks only managed to score 10 points, and their losing streak to LSU grew by one game. Clemson, on the other hand, seemed to have found their mojo again. With their win on Saturday, the Tigers have won back to back games in conference play by 28 plus points, something Tiger fans have come to expect within the last decade. As we come to the midpoint of this college football season, it appears that the Tigers and Gamecocks are coming back to what we all expect, the Gamecocks struggling with mediocrity and the Tigers getting hot when it matters the most.
Aside from Carolina and Clemson, The Citadel found themselves getting a much needed win at home. The Bulldogs braved the bad weather and got the upperhand on Valdosta State 38 to 14. Elsewhere in the state, Wofford, SC State and Coastal Carolina find themselves in the win column, while Furman could not get as lucky.
Next week, The Gamecocks try to get back on track at home against the Oklahoma Sooners, and the Clemson Tigers try to extend their win streak when they face SMU at home.
