The holy city of Charleston, South Carolina, is bringing an average of over 30 new residents to the area per day. Charleston is known for its southern charm, hospitality district, award-winning dining, fine arts, and beautiful beaches. The area attracts a vast amount of retirees, couples, and families.
When it comes to summertime and beating the heat in the Lowcountry, Charleston county Parks is where adventures begin! Charleston County Parks and recreation have three separate locations in the tri-county region. So whether you are a water slide thrill-seeker, need a day off relaxing while floating down a lazy river, or vibrant sprinklers for toddlers to run free, these are the places to kick off your summer days!
Each water park offers a variety of attractions to fit the needs of different age groups. In the heart of beautiful Mount Pleasant, SC, Splash Island is the place for parents to bring younger children. It is relatively smaller in size compared to the other two water parks but offers less hassle for parents who have to manage multiple children. It is easy enough to be in the wading pool and visualize a couple of children in separate locations at the same time. There are lifeguards on duty as well for a 2nd set of eyes.
Whirlin Waters is located just off I 26 in North Charleston and is the largest water park of the three. Splash Zone is conveniently located on James Island. These two water parks are geared more towards older age children and families, but they don’t discriminate or leave out the little ones either. They offer water slides, lazy rivers, kiddie pools, wave pools, tube slides, and a water playground area filled with adventures!
