Up for a glass of wine? Me, too. And one of the best places in town to have a glass is Elliotborough's The Tippling House. Located in a sweet Charleston single home, Tippling House delivers on ambiance and an outrageously good wine menu.

Stopping in recently, we were greeted by a moody, dark interior with historic architectural detail and simplistic wooden furnishings. Their wine menu is led by New York and Paris-trained sommelier Matthew Conway who brings a refined, international palette. The menu rotates and offers a curated selection from across the globe. We had an amazing French Beaujolais along with their Tarvin shrimp toast which is sourced locally from Shem Creek. The Beaujolais was sweet and simple with a warm, fruit-driven body. The shrimp was a welcome addition with tangy celery and savory Andouille sausage.
Whatever your preference, you're sure to have a memorable evening at this local favorite. Small, intimate, and with friendly and knowledgeable staff, The Tippling House is far and away my favorite wine bar in Charleston.
