Top 3 Things to Start Your New Home Search

Buying a home can be stressful and time-consuming!

Here are a few things to expect when you start your search

1. Get a Realtor. When buying a home, the services are FREE!  Having the right person on your side can save you lots of time and even money! A good agent can do lots of the footwork for you to help reduce some of that stress! He or she can locate houses for you, set up searches for you and have houses sent to you daily for you to see what is available and new to the market!

2.  Be prepared to do some looking. Most people do not find the house they purchase by looking at one house. Usually, you have to look at a few before the right one gets your attention! There is the rare occasion it happens with the first house you see.

3. It takes time! So after you do find that perfect home, you write an offer, it gets accepted. Typically loans close in about 30 days, give or take a few days. Now VA loans take on average 45 days to close, a lot more to this loan. and of course, if you pay cash, it can happen as quickly as the attorney gathers all the information needed to close. Also during this period, you need to have the home inspected, and it will need an appraisal. I usually tell my clients to give themselves about a 2-month window for the process! Unless everything happens on the first day, it will take this amount of time.

These are just a few things to help you prepare for the process! I hope this little bit of information helps you prepare for your future home. If you have any questions about the process or thinking about trying to buy a home, give me a call and I will be happy to assist you or answer any questions you may have about how to get started.
