Before Listing Your Home for Sale

By now you should have heard about the rising property values in the Charleston area.  Yes, homeowners are hearing how much their neighbor down the street sold their home for and are thinking they'll 'cash in' and sell their home too.

Before you list your home, 'visit' your home.  Get in your car, drive down your street and into your driveway.  How did the front of your house look?  Was it pleasing or where there trees growing out of your gutters? Does the driveway need to be power washed, or do you need a few plants or shrubs to perk up the landscaping?

Now on to the front door...could it use a new coat of paint or does the door knob need a little shining?  I think you get the idea.  Continue to walk through each room in your home as if you were a stranger.  Take the time to really look at each room.

The first free fix-up is to de-clutter, remove items that are not being used or are simply in the way. After you think you have your house ready for listing ask your realtor if there are any other things that you can do to your home to make that great first impression.  You know what they say about first impressions...you don't get a second chance to WOW a buyer!
