Wow! Those are impressive numbers. Especially Summerville and Moncks Corner are booming. Just a few years ago,
Moncks Corner was the almost forgotten destination but it is surely changing now. And with that change,
new infrastructure, new jobs, restaurants, and amenities have sprung up. Plenty of rural areas
in Moncks Corner and neighborhoods with generous spaces between homes, sidewalks, trees and parks
and plenty of things to do.
The town of Moncks Corner, named for landowner Thomas Monck, dates back to 1728. It began as a trading post with a few taverns and stores.
One can find here many amazing sites and places to go. For example, Berkeley County Country Club, Cypress Gardens,
Mepkin Abbey, Old Santee Canal State Park, Berkeley County & History Museum, Biggin Church Ruins, Overdose Fishing
Charter etc.
