Charleston Dog Parks - Cannon park

There are parks all over the Charleston peninsula and the one I'm sharing with you today is primarily for dogs! Cannon Park is located at 131 Rutledge Ave. in downtown Charleston. It is clearly visible from the street and is know for it's focal point of four grand columns which are the remains of a convention hall that was built in 1899. You can read more about the complete history of the hall here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannon_Park_(Charleston,_SC)

The convention hall was later a theatre, a hospital and a museum before a fire took down the building. They left the four columns as a tribute.

While the park is not fenced in, dogs are allowed off leash. There are also walking paths and a small playground for children. Volunteers with the Conservancy have scheduled for a volunteer clean up called GARDEN IN THE PARKS: CANNON PARK on Thursday 4/13/17. If you miss this date you can sign up to volunteer for any of the other parks in Charleston as they spruce up all the parks in Charleston on different dates.
