Blog > Charleston's Best Burger & A Giveaway!
This is a burger that means business.
Located in a converted 150-year-old French Quarter warehouse at five Cumberland St., Bumpa’s is the warm and inviting new restaurant and bar, brought to life by the Sullivan brothers.
Paying homage to their Irish heritage (and their beloved, larger than life grandfather affectionately known as “Bumpa”), co-owners Dan and Connor Sullivan aspired to marry the timeless feel of the traditional Irish pub with the culinary excellence of Charleston.
The brothers partnered with Chef Joe Palmitessa to create “elevated bar food,” their signature offering being the customizable Fry Plate (“Jo’s Disco Fries” make a deep bow to the late-night New Jersey post-bar-hopping staple). With an ever-changing lineup of seasonal specials, it may be tempting to overlook Bumpa’s “regular” menu offerings. However, I am a firm believer in sticking to the basics, especially when the basics are anything but!
The Southpaw Burger is, hands down, the best burger I have ever had in Charleston, or perhaps anywhere. Locally sourced, corn-fed beef that is pan-seared and butter-basted with garlic and fresh herbs, dressed with secret sauce, and pickled red onions, lettuce, tomato, onion, and your choice of cheese: this is a burger that means business! Its memory will be enough to make you want to forsake your family dinner duties and head straight to 5 Cumberland St.
Don’t take my word for it though, email me at elizabeth.rego@agentownedrealty.com for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Bumpa’s. Winner will be selected at random on 9/5/2020 and will receive notification by email. Good luck & remember Bumpa’s motto, “Every living thing must eat, and decisions must be made!!”
