Blog > Charleston Spring Planting 1Yr After the Pandemic
It's been a whole year since we first heard about the Covid-19 Pandemic. I don't know about you but the first signs of Spring excite me! We have raked up bags and bags of leaves throughout the Winter and are still bagging SweetGum Balls...they're never-ending.
I live in Mt. Pleasant and there are a few options for garden centers besides the Lowes and Home Depot. In Awendaw, there's a great place called Hidden Ponds Nursery. If you live closer to the Ravenel Bridge you can go to Abide Awhile. Both have a terrific selection of indoor and outdoor plants, pottery, shrubs, and trees.
Today I stopped at Abide Awhile to purchase a large houseplant. Of course, I had to take a walk around the whole store and outdoor area. When I saw their lemon trees full of flowers I remembered I needed help for my lemon trees. I have them in large pots and I want to make sure they do well this year. The first year one plant yielded 13 lemons! I spoke with Tammy and she was so knowledgeable. She gave me plenty of information on the lemons so I proceeded to ask her about other shrubs I have in my yard and she took the time to give me very specific care instructions.
It's a nice feeling to shop in local businesses and speak with passionate, engaging people who obviously love their work. So, it's time to get out and start planting. Wishing you a better Spring than last year! #supportlocalbusinesses
