Christmas Eve in Charleston - with amazing food!
We had such a wonderful Christmas Eve; we decided to go downtown Charleston and check out a Japanese Sushi restaurant - it's so close, only took us 10 minutes to get there from James Island. Downtown is so beautiful at night with Christmas lights everywhere; everything looks so different at night. Of course, the jazz clubs aren't open yet. We sure look forward to when they re-open once Covid is under control. For the most part, the restaurants are being careful about social distancing, and people are wearing their masks. We certainly did.
We had such a great time. First, we went to this restaurant called O-Ku, a very authentic Asian cuisine with a southern approach with a full bar and beautiful brick walls inside. The menu focuses on unique ingredients and sophisticated presentations. The sauces, WOW, incredible!!! It's located on King Street, we parked in a parking garage on Mary street on the next block, it only cost $3.00 to park, pretty awesome. The restaurant was beautiful, very upscale, and the food was amazing so delicious. Our waitress and overall, the service was impeccable. It was pricey because everything is ala cart but really was a special treat. CLICK HERE for their menu.
After dinner, we walked a little bit and looked checked out King street, window looking at everything that was open and closed other restaurants and lounges. Then we drove towards home to see the Christmas tree near Calhoun Street, a huge tree with multi-colored lights. I couldn't get a good picture, but it really was awesome! I love the scenery, the beautiful buildings. We had a lovely time.
