Coming soon Poogan's Southern Kitchen @ Nexton

You heard it right, the same folks that own the famous Poogn's Porch in Downtown Charleston on Queen street, are venturing West to bring you Poogan's Southern Kitchen located at the booming and up and coming Shops at Nexton. 

For over 40 years in Downtown Charleston, they have delivered great food and a sense of fellowship, and now they want to bring it to the Summerville area. They will offer up a host of great southern dishes with that down-home feel, and their own little special twist. They are aiming to make this a place where everyone can meet up, hang out, get a full belly, have a few drinks, and make great memories with family and new friends. The same way they have made the community feel in Downtown Charleston since 1977. 

Back story, Do you know where Poogan's Porch got their name? Before it became a restaurant, it was a residence, and when the owners sold it and moved away, they left the neighborhood dog that they had cared for over the years. He was a neighborhood fixture and Queen st was his home. He would roam the block, and accept table scraps and attention from all the neighbors around. He was no pure breed, just a good old southern dog and the porch at 72 Queen st had become his favorite spot. His name was Poogan. When they started to make the renovations to the house for a restaurant, Poogan was right there supervising along the way! When they opened the doors for business, he was there to greet the guest as they arrived. He was cherished by all. He became a permanent fixture and institution! Poogan passed in 1979, and the building is his monument.
