Here is a bit of information on the local ferry rides:
Fort Sumter Ferry: one can catch this ride out to Fort Sumter from Patriots Point in the Mount Pleasant or from the Maritime Center on Concord Street d’town Charleston.
The ferry ride to Fort Sumter was established in 1961 and is popular among tourists and locals. On the way out there, one has a great view of the Charleston harbor and if in luck, one might catch a glimpse of frolicking dolphins. For more info: https://www.fortsumtertours.com
Charleston Water Taxi: leaves at a few different locations in Mt Pleasant and d’town Charleston. It is a very inexpensive way to get d’town with a $12.00 all-day ticket. The ferry leaves every hour on the hour 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm. Website: https://www.charlestonwatertaxi.com
Daniel Island Ferry: right now runs 2 or 3 times a week at 5:30pm to go d’town and comes back to Daniel Island at 8:30pm. The ferry leaves at Children’s Park on Daniel Island and docks at the Maritime Center. Starting in October, there will be more rides. For more info call 843.732.4949.
Dewees Island Ferry: a very fine ride to this resort island leaves on 46 41st on Isle of Palm on the hour and returns from Dewee Island to the Isle of Palm on the ½ hour. More info at https://www.deweeislandsc.com
These are my tips for you and while riding the waters and falling in love with our beautiful area and thinking about buying or leasing a place to call home, you truly don’t need to have a million dollars in your pocket.
