Did you know one can find a fun, interactive, living history tour every Thursday evening starting at 7pm at the OLD BETHEL UNITED METHODIST Church, located at 222 Calhoun St. Charleston SC .

The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the 3rd oldest building in Charleston. The building was originally built at 55 Pitt St., right at the corner of Pitt and Calhoun St. in 1797-1798. It was built for the Bethel Methodist Church congregation. But after the congregation finished a brand-new Greek Revival building in the mid-19th century, the old and existing building from 1797 was no longer needed. So, in 1882, the old building from 1797 was moved to its current location and Calhoun Street and was given to the black members of a nearby congregation.

The building was originally a meeting house with a simple rectangular plan. The portico with its four fluted columns was added after the building was moved to its present site. The interior design is simple is plainly finished.

And so I hope you visit one day and attend the fun and interactive performance on a Thursday nite. Not many locals or visitors know about it.
