We have so many amazing views in the Charleston Area.
One of my personal favorites is Charleston Harbor. The Charleston Harbor is an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. This inlet is formed by the joining of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers. Charlestonians have an old saying “The Charleston Harbor is where the Ashley River and the Cooper River join to form the Atlantic Ocean!”.
It is fascinating watching all the ships come and go. On May 28, 2021, CC Marco Polo arrived in Charleston Harbor. The Marco Polo at a length of 1300 feet (4.33 football fields) is the largest ship ever to enter the Harbor.
The Tugboats are the Beast! They are highly maneuverable pushing and pulling. Tugboats are used to guide every ship in and out of Charleston Harbor. They are relatively small but very powerful for their size. They have to churn enough water to create thrust which can displace and move ships.
Tugboats are always working hard in the fog, cold, rain, and heat guiding the massive ships into our harbor home and maneuvering them safely to their destination. Tugboats play a significant role in the berthing process.
