East Cooper Boat Launch Options

Charleston has a strong boating culture, and many of its residents, if not the majority, own a marine vessel. There's nothing better than spending a warm summer day on the water, whether you're fishing for your dinner, checking out one of the many island destinations, or just enjoying the sea breezes with friends and family.

For those East Cooper residents, there are a variety of boat launch options that you can take advantage of as the weather starts warming up. Here are some local favorites:

1) Isle of Palms Marina: This coastal launch can be found at the end of 41st Ave. and boasts a variety of amenities, including a marina market, gas station, boat rentals, offshore/ inshore charters, and more. For a low daily rate, you can launch your boat into the Intracoastal and enjoy such location attractions as Boneyard Beach on Bulls Island.

2) Benke-Lowe Landing, Sullivan's Island: The local fire department maintains a boat landing at Osceola Ave. and Station 9. Memberships are sold to local and non-local residents and can be purchased at the Fire Department. Annual boat memberships are issued starting March 1st. This is a great option for those boaters who want to enjoy easy access to Charleston Harbor.

3) Shem Creek Boat Landing: This launch located at the corner of Simmons St. and Mill St. near local hotspot, Shem Creek, is a favorite among paddleboarders and kayakers due to the gorgeous marsh views, wildlife sightings, and calm waters. It's also a great place to launch if you'd like to dock and enjoy a meal at one of the numerous eateries along the Creek.

4) Remley's Point Boat Landing: Along with Shem Creek, Remley's Point Boat Landing is another local launch that is managed by Charleston County Parks. It's located off of Rifle Range Road and falls between the Ravenel Bridge and Molasses Creek in south Mount Pleasant. This launch offers direct Harbor access and an expansive parking lot and landing.

Regardless of where you launch, a day on the water is always a good way to spend a sunny day in Charleston. Contact me today to view homes for sale that border some of these favorite local launches.
