Hurricane season is approaching us in the Lowcountry. Here are some steps you can take to ensure that you and your families are prepared for a storm.
Emergency Kit:
- Locate all important papers (insurance, Identification, medical) in one location for all in your household. This will allow you to evacuate in a timely manner should the need arise.
- Keep non-perishable food and water on hand to sustain your household for several days.
- Have a basic first aid kit
- Enough medicine to last for several days.
- Check your emergency equipment to ensure you have flashlights, transistor radio, and batteries.
- Emergency point of contact information outside of the impact area.
- Pet information to include shot records and food for your pets.
Know the evacuation zone you're in and which emergency routes are available to get you out of the area. Pay attention to all warnings from credible sources. CLICK HERE for the Charleston County site.
