WADMALAW ISLAND
Wadmalaw Island
is located to the southwest of Johns Island and more than halfway encircled by it. To the North, it is bordered by Church Creek and to the Northeast and East by Bohicket Creek. The Edisto River is bordering Wadmalaw Island to the South. The island is about 10 miles long and 6 miles wide and for the most part, left in very natural and untouched conditions.
When visiting the Low Country of South Carolina
one shall not miss a side trip to Wadmalaw Island. It will be a true Southern roots experience. There one finds the Charleston Tea Plantation, The Firefly Distillery, Deep Water Vineyard, the Bears Bluff Nautical Fish Hatchery, the Bohicket Marina, and the Ambrose Family Farm. There are hundred-year-old oak trees and dirt roads. Even though less than 25 miles away from Charleston, one feels a world away from the bright lights and colonial architecture of the big city.
Martins Point
is part of Wadmalaw Island. This community was founded in 1989 when five partners purchased 900 acres of land to create a waterfront retreat to protect the water quality, the open space, and the wildlife habitat.
Seldom becomes such a retreat available for sale but the current owner is off to a new journey and ready sell this retreat. Check out all the Wadmalaw Island homes for sale here! Anyone will enjoy it greatly; enjoy the fishing dock, the oyster beds right at the property line, the horse retreat and the luxurious place right on the Intracoastal Waterway.
