Blog > Local Maker Highlight : Supporting Local Made Easy!
Shopping handmade is a surefire way to make any buying experience more special. Mt. Pleasant and the barrier islands have several crafty events, including our local farmers' markets, festivals hosted in the Old Village, our annual winter Holiday Market on Coleman Blvd, and many smaller fairs hosted by local businesses all throughout the year. I recommend following Brown Fox Coffee, Shop Out of Hand, and the Oyster Candle Company on social media (just to name a few) as they host events year-round in the Mt. Pleasant area. You can also find lots of local happenings on the Mt. Pleasant & Barrier Island Community Facebook page. In today’s blog, I’ll be highlighting one of my favorite local makers. Did you know there’s a local blacksmith right in Mt. Pleasant?
Adam Gilbert with Armsway Forge & Metal Designs hand hammers and creates custom designs on a large scale for homes across the Lowcountry. Also in his wheelhouse are smaller gift items, including unique home decor, fire tools, tables, jewelry, oyster shuckers, and cooking tools. You might have already met or seen him at one of our local maker events. You can reach out to him anytime to place an order on Instagram or by calling/texting him at 843-693-7079. Here’s just a small sampling of his work:
I’m thankful we have such a strong local artist community here in the Lowcountry. Love walking to restaurants, want to bike to local vendors, or passionate about shopping handmade near where you live? If you are interested in finding a spot to live near makers & shakers, give me a call @ 843-810-4905. You can also reach out to me via email at SieglingChristy@gmail.com. It’d be an honor to assist in your real estate journey!
