Low Country Summer Happenings
As the Summer heats up in the low country, now is the perfect time to check out the local happenings in the Charleston area. Two of Charleston's most notable events for the month of June are the world renown Spoleto Festival and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. At the Spoleto Festival, you can enjoy performances in opera, theater, dance, choral and jazz music located throughout Charleston's theaters, churches, and outdoor spaces. The Piccolo Spoleto Festival showcases local talent and features performers, artists, writers musicians and filmmakers all from the Southeast. Both festivals run from May 24th-June 9th and require ticket purchase.
Featured throughout the summer you will find local events such as the Charleston Farmers market, Reggae Nights and Party at the Point. The Charleston farmers market is held every Saturday in Marion Square from 8am-2pm where you will find a variety of local produce. Reggae Nights is an outdoor summer concert series at James Island county park. Concerts will be held June 7th, June 28th, July 19th and August 2nd with the gates opening at 7:30 pm. Admission is $10 per adult and children age 12 and under are free. Can't get enough live music? Party at the Point runs every Friday through July 5th at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. Admission is only $8 per person.
