Magnolia Plantation - Amazing Lanterns
Every year, one of Charleston's most sought after tourist attractions is the spectacular Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Known for its romantic display of flowers and rich natural beauty, Magnolia Plantation is the oldest tourist site open to the public in Charleston. First opening in the 1870s, much of the garden features sections that date back over 325 years.
Now through March 15th, Magnolia Plantation is showcasing the Lights of Magnolia, a lantern festival honoring historic Chinese culture. Featuring 23 themed lantern displays spread across nine acres, the lanterns will illuminate a walking trail throughout the gardens. The lanterns create a reflection off the garden's lakes and ponds, giving the illusion of a much larger size.
Lights of Magnolia is open Wed-Sun from 5:30-9:30pm. Ticket prices are $26 for adults 13 and over and $11 for children aged 6-12. Children 5 and under are free. Tickets must be purchased in advance online.
