New House Tips!

You have just made a large investment in a home, whether this is your first or 5th home you will want to make some changes to make it your happy place!

It may be as simple as painting the walls a color you love or as major as upgrading the kitchen or bathroom.
Whatever your plans would be I would like to suggest a few things-make a list of what you want to do and a timeline for getting these completed., If using contractors get references, make sure they are licensed and bonded, get a detailed list of what they will be doing and materials used for the price charged in writing, and a timeline for completion of the project.
Make a maintenance schedule to change AC filters, check pipes for leaks, etc. if it is a new home, keep a detailed list you want the builder to address in the timeframe they said they would fix anything you find.
Remember, it is easier to address small problems than large ones.
Start a saving fund so if you do have a large expense in the future- such as a new roof or AC unit you will have the funds to take care of it
Most important, though, is to make this house your home that you enjoy and make many happy memories!
