Old Village Mt. Pleasant

The Old Village is one of the most coveted areas in the Lowcountry and for good reason. It’s a charming neighborhood bordered by Charleston Harbor and Shem Creek, made up of many historic homes dating back to the 1700s. These grand homes and coastal contemporaries are set amongst gorgeous live oaks, blooming indigenous azaleas, and sea breezes.

The neighborhood was originally occupied by early Charlestonians, looking to escape the oppressive peninsula heat for the eastern breezes from the Cooper River. The ideal locale soon became populated by year-round residents.

Today, those residing in the Old Village can not only enjoy the beautiful homes and scenery but also a variety of popular neighborhood spots. Alhambra Hall serves as a wedding venue and also a great place to enjoy harbor views while playing fetch with the dog. Pitt Street bridge is a wonderful place to take a stroll and catch dinner or a sunset. There are also a few businesses such as Pitt Street Pharmacy, which doles up ice cream scoops with a smile.
