Blog > Oyster Season in Charleston - Yum!
September is a month most everyone in the Lowcountry has been waiting for...the official start to oyster season!
You may have heard 'only eat oysters in a month with the letter R'. You're sure to hear of oyster festivals happening all over from now until April.
Many people have their own oyster parties at home too. It's interesting to see a group of people all standing around a sheet of plywood with two holes cut out, set on top of two trash pails. A giant wire basket full of steamy oysters gets dumped in the middle. If you don't have your oyster shucking knife in hand, you're going to miss out. It's a wonderful gathering place...standing, talking, shucking, eating, laughing and enjoying!

When buying oysters always buy from a reputable source - LOCAL and don't wait to eat them - FRESH is BEST!
Don't be surprised if we're sharing a table one day!
