South Carolina Beaches - Always a Great Way to Spent the Day!

Do you ever daydream about living at the beach?

What would your beach lifestyle look like? Exotic drinks on the beach? Dining al fresco? Water sports? Sunbathing? Beachcombing? Watching the wildlife? History?

Ask any local in the Lowcountry what their favorite beach lifestyle is and you’ll get more answers than you know what to do with. Because truthfully, no matter what part of Charleston and the surrounding barrier islands you live near, you’re never really more than 20 minutes from the water and beaches of the Lowcountry. Nestled at the base of Charleston Harbor, Sullivan’s island is home to 2.5 miles of Atlantic Ocean beachfront with views of Ft. Sumter, it’s also known for its strong military background and is home to Fort Moultrie. Fort Moultrie was once home to author Edgar Allan Poe. Poe was stationed from 1827-1828 and used it as the setting for his famous short story, The Goldbug. Visit this national monument and learn about its two centuries of history
defending the city of Charleston. It’s also home to some of the poshest beachfront properties in the country!


Hurricane Hugo is credited with leaving us “The Washout” on Folly Beach.


Where homes once stood, the wind now blows across bare beach, over the wetlands, and to the Folly River offering some of the best surfing on the east coast. Folly beach is also known for some of the best fishing in the area whether it be river fishing or fishing off the pier. This Bohemian lifestyle beach also offers eclectic bars, restaurants, and some of the most affordable beach real estate on the east coast.


For resort-style relaxation, locals head to Beachwalker Park, the only public beach at Kiawah Island.

This expansive white sandy beach offers up the perfect beach for bike riding, as well as outdoor showers, changing rooms, and a snack bar. Kiawah Island is also home to the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island and the 2021 PGA tournament last month. Kiawah offers some of the best fine dining, world-renowned golfing, and is home to bobcats, dolphins, and some of the most exceptional real estate in the country. While Seabrook Island is home to miles of pristine beaches and serene marshes it’s also known as a birders paradise.

There are more than 80 species routinely spotted on the island. These include federally threatened and endangered birds such as the bald eagle and piping plover. The Seabrook island club has participated in Audubon International’s North American Bird Watching Open since 1998, taking top honors each year. The Seabrook Island community is dedicated to protecting and preserving the island’s natural resources for generations to come. It also offers a full-service equestrian center offering beach and trail rides. The unique real estate found on this private, gated, coastal barrier island includes properties with oceanfront, riverfront, marsh views, and golf views.
