Blog > Step Back in Time in Charleston's Colonial Lake Park
If you haven't been to Colonial Lake in a while you haven't seen the beautiful transformation the Charleston Parks Conservancy was able to accomplish with the funds they raised. The park now has extra wide sidewalks with magnificent landscaping and it surrounds the tidal pool that spans between Broad and Beaufain from Ashley to Rutledge. The water along with the palm trees, plants and historic homes gives a relaxed feeling of a time long before cell phones and computers.
The park dates back to the 1880's and has had consistent renovations since then. Larger, level walking paths, benches, and shady areas to sit and reflect on the expansive pond. You'll see serious walkers getting in there exercise routine as well as dog walkers. It truly takes you away from your every day doldrums.
