Blog > The Holy City and Our Food!
Charleston is known for many things and at the top of the list is its cuisine. The Holy City consistently ranks among the top destinations in the country for its culinary options. The list seems to grow by the day including these three new standouts:
- The Kingstide: The Kingstide just opened its doors a few months ago and has already become a Daniel Island mainstay. It’s one of the few waterfront options in the area where you can dock your boat and grab a bite. The menu appeals to its coastal locale with such favorites as the lobster roll, seafood towers, Lowcountry chowder, and more. The dining room is reservations-only and typically is booked out a few weeks in advance. Upstairs is a scenic rooftop bar where the trend-forward libations and conversations flow.
- Brasserie La Banque: Broad Street is getting a new French option with the July 2nd opening of much-hyped Brasserie La Banque. This restaurant is sure to appeal to tourists and locals alike with its South of Broad location, gorgeous interior re-haul, and decadent offerings. The Brasserie has a somewhat more casual take on French cuisine with steak frites, Lowcountry bouillabaisse featuring Miss Paula’s shrimp, and 30-layer crepe cake gracing the menu. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
- Rancho Lewis: John Lewis expands his Charleston foothold with the recent announcement of his newest venture, El Paso-inspired Rancho Lewis. This Tex-Mex restaurant will be a revamping of his current food truck, Juan Luis, located in the Lewis BBQ courtyard. Rancho Lewis will be opening at 1503 King St (former Workshop space) this winter and feature classic border favorites such as mesquite-grilled fajitas, enchiladas, and a huge drink list including some of their signature tequila cocktails.
