The New Year is upon us and for many, that means change is on the horizon.

Instead of focusing our energy on our usual stale resolutions, maybe it's time to raise the bar on our aspirations this year. Maybe it is finally time to make our relocation dreams into reality. Of course, some of us may need a little extra incentive, so I present to you the top five reasons you should move to Charleston, South Carolina.

1. The weather-

Who doesn't want to live in a state where the sun is shining more often than not and the coldest month of the year still sees an average of 60 degrees. You can kiss that seasonable depression goodbye.

2. Property Taxes-

My taxes are currently a quarter the amount I was paying while living in Illinois, which makes for a $10,000 annual savings.

3. Southern Hospitality-

The folks have a genuine interest in your well being here. People are warm and welcoming and your children will grow up with sir and mame as a staple in their vocabulary.

4. Restaurants and Night Life-

Charleston offers some of the best seafood, BBQ and low country cooking you can find. Follow dinner up with an evening on King Street and I can assure those looking for nightlife will not be disappointed.

5. Beaches-

Charleston is a coastal city, but what I find most impressive is the beaches are actually gorgeous and accessible. These beaches are of the white sand variety.

There you have it, the top five reasons you should make the move to Charleston this year. Set those aspirations a little higher, or you might just be resolving to hit the gym three days a week again.
