If you are a homeowner currently on the fence on whether to sell, I encourage you to act now and strike while the iron is hot. You may have noticed that home prices have continued to increase steadily over the past few years, but experts are predicting these days may be numbered. Here are the top five reasons to get the "for sale" sign out now before the end of the year.

  1. Homes are having an increase in days on the market. Homes are not selling as fast as they once were, and the average time a home sits on the market is starting to rise. This could be an early indicator of a market slow down.
  2. After years of appreciation, home prices are starting to level. This may seem like bad news for home sellers, but do not panic. Home prices are still increasing, just not at the same rate that they once were.
  3. Mortgage Rates are at historic lows. Rates on a 30year fixed mortgage are at or below 4%. (dependent on individual factors) These low rates will drive plenty of home buyers to the market.
  4. There is an abundance of first time home buyers. With nearly 5 million people turning 30 over the next few years, millennials looking to purchase are keeping the housing market strong.
  5. Home Inventory is starting to increase. We are slowly starting to see more homes on the market, which can make selling competitive. Listing now will get you that head starts on your neighbors who may be planning on selling in the near future.

In conclusion, we are starting to see the preliminary signs of a market slow down. The housing market continues to remain stable for now, but if you want to capitalize on your home's highest value, I invite you to sell today! Contact Erin Eisele to get started on the listing process.
