Blog > Total Wine & More in Mt Pleasant: The Savings Are Worth The Trip
It's Finally Open!
Total Wine opened its doors in Mount Pleasant in early February, finally freeing me from spending more than I need to on wine at my local Harris Teeter. Total Wine moved into the Wando Crossing Shopping Center off of Highway 17, and I decided to spend a little time finding out if it's worth a second stop to replenish my wine fridge somewhere other than the grocery store.
I started noticing a substantial price difference for the wines I prefer between stores. I don’t mind a dollar or two max difference for a bottle when it keeps me from adding another stop to my list, but I draw the line when it’s continually $3 and $4 more. I am by no means a wine connoisseur, so I will not recommend any wines in this post, however, I will show you some price comparisons for wines that I was able to find at both my local grocery store and Total Wine. Now that Total Wine has a Mount Pleasant location, it’s worth taking a look.
The Josh Chardonnay is what piqued my interest. I purchased a bottle at one nearby grocery store and then happened to notice a $6.00 difference when I was in another local store within a couple of days. I then made a point to check the price wherever I went that carried it. I was surprised to learn that there was this large a price difference within a 10-mile radius. You may think like I used to, and believe that the sales price is always available and the store just labels it as a sale, however, this is not true. After noticing the price difference in Josh chardonnay, I also went back to the same stores to follow the prices. The prices continually changed and were often much higher than the sales prices shown below. The sales prices at the grocery store came close to Total Wine's prices and wouldn’t be terrible for a bottle or two, but if you purchase wine on a regular basis, clearly it is worth the trip to Total Wine. If you were to buy a bottle of each of the wines shown in one shopping trip, which we are all probably doing right now, you would pay over $10.00 more at the grocery store with the sales prices and almost $30.00 more when not on sale! Can you imagine saving $30.00 for every four bottles of wine!
During the COVID19 outbreak please try to take advantage of the store pick up option at Total Wine to maintain your social distance. Drink responsibly now has a new meaning! Check online for store hours and availability.
This has spurred me to make the now shorter trip to Total Wine & More. If it has encouraged you to do the same, but you’d still like to live even closer, take a look at the many nearby neighborhoods, like the new builds by Crescent Homes at Midtown’s Founders Point or maybe you like the charm of Old Mount Pleasant. If you’re interested in buying a home in the area contact me and we can share a glass of wine over Facetime or Zoom and discuss what you’re looking for.
