Blog > Your one-stop Sullivan’s Island Holiday Shopping Guide
Let's go shopping on the island!
Sullivan's Island is special to so many of us, and it's largely in part to the small business owners who work hard to maintain the culture of the Island. It's a privilege to highlight some of my favorites in today's blog. To keep it simple, businesses are listed in the order they're found as you walk down Middle Street and loop around. Thank you for supporting our local community!
- The Body Garden
I highly recommend the classic hour-long massage. Elizabeth is well versed in pain relief techniques and relaxation. There are so many benefits of self-care, and a gift card to the Body Garden is a great way to pamper a hard-working loved one. Services offered are massage therapy, facials, waxing, and airbrush tanning. Office hours are Mon.- Fri. 9a-5p, and you can call Elizabeth at (843) 883-9131.
- Bennie & Coco Surf Co.
Comfortable, high-quality pieces that are unique make Bennie & Coco a vibrant stand out. A shopping spree here is sure to leave an impression and is especially good for creative types who enjoy an eclectic style. Current hours are Mon.- Fri. 11a-6p, Sat. 1p-7p, and Sun. 12p-5p (ish). # (843) 801-2855.
- Brooks Custom Woodworks
When it comes to handcrafted and wood, Eric and his team do it all, including high-end cabinetry, bed frames, doors, chairs, cutting boards, and shelving. Is there a project your household's been putting off or a wish-list item someone's mentioned? How good would it feel to surprise someone with plans for a custom-built chest or special side table? Any creation of his is sure to be a family keepsake for generations. They also have swag (hats, etc.) that would make for excellent stocking stuffers—email ericbrooks@brookscustomwoodworks.com for more info.
- Beauty and the Beach Hair Salon
You know what they say, "life is too short to have boring hair." Give a gift card or, better yet, treat yourself and a friend for some Holiday bonding time. (843) 883-9101.
- Shades of Charleston
Sunglasses, flip flops, beach supplies, t-shirts, and more. So many options that it's easy to stock up, and reppin' local always looks good.
- Goldbug
Goldbug has me feeling all the best carefree beach vibes. Styles are sophisticated, island-inspired, and there's an attention to detail consistent throughout all lines offered in the shop. Ashley, the owner, handcrafts jewelry that is relaxed and modern. You'll enjoy shopping in person Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11a-6p, and Sundays, 12-5, but you can also visit Shopgoldbug.com online for jewelry, apparel, and more. (Closed Mondays.)
- Sandpiper Gallery
This is truly a must-see gallery, and I say this as a long-time local with lots of gallery loves around the Lowcountry. Sandpiper's an absolute favorite! You can find well-curated handcrafted gifts and artwork of all types. Please, at a minimum, walk through and enjoy the creativity. Current hours are Mon.- Sat. 11a-6p, and Sun. 12-4 (or later.) Shop online at www.sandpipergallery.net or call (843) 883-0200.
- Sealand Adventure Sports
Gift cards, rentals, lessons, beach supplies, and adventure accessories galore! In my family, we love giving the gift of an experience, and this is the perfect spot for that. Imagine your loved one opening up their card to see that you've gifted them with kiteboarding lessons! That's an awesome gift, and it's such an exciting way to enjoy what Sullivan's Island has to offer
Restaurant gift cards are also a good option! You can purchase gift cards and merch from any of the following: Dunleavy's Pub, High Thyme, Home Team BBQ, Obstinate Daughter, Beardcat's Sweet Shop, The Co-op, Republic Ice Cream, and Poe's. Pro-Tip: present your gift card tied on to a t-shirt or hat, or in a koozie to make it feel more personalized.
Be sure to check out next month's blog, as I'll highlight SI restaurants in more detail.
