  • Thinking Of Selling?

    Thinking Of Selling?,Brenda Kanehl

Are you thinking of listing your home this year? Most of the time, the homeowner will ask what do I need to do to sell my home? Obviously, you want to get the best price for your home, so what do you need to do to get that?We will start at the beginning- First impressions the outside-Curb appeal will attract more buyers than if the property looks neglected. Cut the grass, add some new mulch if needed, clear sidewalks, driveway, and porch or steps. Check for any rotting wood, and replacing will help with appearance and future problems. Does the front door need painting? Or is there peeling paint that needs a fresh coat of paint?I am always learning new things and found out you can paint vinyl sidings such as shutters and window trim- this window trim was peeling in the picture and not sure what to do we went to the local Sherwin Williams store who gave great advice on how to prepare and paint I will share pictures when completed! So I would suggest you take a walk around your property and look at it as a potential buyer might and take care of any obvious issues.Next time we will talk about once the buyer walks in! Before you list your home - Continued,Brenda Kanehl

Last time we discussed curb appeal, this time, we will discuss the inside. Again first impressions are important. Maybe start with a little decluttering to make the space look as spacious as possible, clear countertops of unnecessary items, the same with cupboards and closets, you may want to pack up some boxes, have a yard sale to make some extra money or donate to a thrift store or Habitat for humanity. Look around as a potential buyer would be. Are all the lights and fans working, are there any dripping faucets? If the walls or ceilings need a fresh coat of paint, now may be the time to do those. Another important thing to do is clean and make everything as clean and fresh as possible, so when buyers walk in, the home looks and smells wonderful!
